| Roni Java is an environmental education specialist with the Integrated Waste Management Board’s Office of Education and the Environment, which is part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. She has held several posts on the SIOC Board of Directors, including President (2007). Roni has served as a public information officer and media relations specialist for the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, California Employment Development Department, the Department of Toxic Substances Control, State and Consumer Services Agency, and the Waste Board. Born in England and raised in the Bay Area, she is a U.C. Berkeley grad and former photojournalist/writer/editor for various newspapers, including the Contra Costa Times. In other news, her 13th great-grandfather signed the Declaration of Independence and she keeps a framed Oakland Tribune photo of Mt. Diablo on her desk so she is never without a "view" of her beloved mountain. |
