SiOC Monthly Meeting:
Public Records Act and What it Means to You
As communications professionals with the State and private organizations, it's important to be informed about the Public Records Act (PRA) and what PRA requests mean to you and your organization. At this meeting you will learn about the PRA and the requirements of responding and why it's important to respond in a timely fashion. Other issues and questions that will be covered are:
- What not to do.
- Who should respond? Your Legal Office? Non-Legal Staff? Media Public Information Officers?
- What happens if you don't respond?
- What does 10 days really mean?
- What are other organizations doing?
- How to set up a PRA system in your agency.
