The SiOC Stephan Brophy Scholarship
SiOC has created an endowment at California State Universtiy Sacramento (CSUS) that provides an annual scholarship to students pursusing degrees leading to a career in the media or as an information officer in government service.
The scholarship is named after the late Stephan Brophy, a SiOC Board of Directors Secretary, who was tragically killed by a hit and run driver while trying to prevent him from stealing her son's car.
Qualifications
- Junior or Senior majoring in Communication Studies, Journalism or English at CSUS
- Junior or Senior status as of January 20, 2007
- Have a grade point average of 3.0 in your major and 2.5 over-all
- Currently enrolled with 12 or more units
- Enrolled with 12 or more units in Fall 2006 and Spring 2007
- Can write a compelling essay
